My work is very much inspired by the changing seasons and as the title suggests, the inspiration for this painting was the emergence of Spring here in the UK. As an abstract contemporary artist since 2020, Alison works primarily in oil and cold wax, acrylic and collage and sells her art internationally. Alison is a member of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Art Society. She finds inspiration in all that is around her, whether it is on her doorstep or when she is on her travels; the sights, the texture, the experiences, the feelings and the qualities of nature in all its bounty. Alison truly enjoys including her many experiences, into her paintings. Her art ranges from non-representational mark making to abstract landscapes, to florals and to semi-abstract seascapes. She chooses a colour palette, which may be highly influenced by the seasons, and uses her intuition as her guide as she lets go of what the final outcome could be and lets one mark inform the next. Alison believes what transpires from this process is authentic and honest. She began painting just before the ‘lock down’ of the 2020 pandemic and with the limitations and confinements of that unprecedented time, Alison discovered a talent for art. Her painting sessions became therapeutic as it felt as if she were on a solo artist retreat. Alison’s paintings transformed that negative experience into a precious period in which she connected deeply with herself and was able to capture her feelings and memories by putting them onto the canvas. When Alison’s family and friends commented very favourably about her art and began to purchase paintings, she realised that she could take it one step further and sell her art to a wider audience. Now she enjoys helping art lovers to enhance and enrich their living spaces with vibrant, modern art.
