Eugene Street Painting

My work derives from urban photography and many miles walking through some of the UK’s cities. I use layers of glazed oil paint over a grisaille underpainting. Often working under a magnifying glass to achieve highly detailed areas. I’m interested in the ever changing urban landscape of Britains cities and our interactions with them. I record the conversations these places have with time. These are evident in the decay of surfaces, the layering of graffiti, the typography and architecture of each space is unique and temporary. I am an educator and artist specialising in oil painting based in the midlands. I attended Central Saint Martins and Birmingham School of Art and I am also a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. My Previous exhibitions include the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal West Annual Open, Bath Society of Artists Open, Tarpey Gallery open (winning the open prize) , the Harley Gallery and the RBSA.
