About The Artwork

The two-dimensional picture plane of painting has shifted from a standardized formal element to a pattern of behavior. However, the majority of my formal elements are made during the canvas creation stage, before I ever put a brushstroke to the surface. The end result emphasizes a structure of light and color, and explores the parallel nature of painting and sculpture. My work allows the audience to visualize color in a three dimensional dialect by using the space and volume of the canvas as chiseling tools to give an understanding of color in relation to the form they’re on.
