About The Artwork
Description: This painting like most of my work is inspired by nature in particular, landscapes. I have always had interests in aerial landscapes, and this body of work directly uses shapes, colors, and layers of rice paddies and rice terraces from around the world. The goal is to blend landscape and subjects together to become one to create almost a surreal landscape with no concrete foreground or background. The shapes and colors are free flowing and intertwine with each other throughout the painting. Koi fish swim in the landscape and become a part of it as floral patterns lay inside and above the layers. Finally, gold leaf is used to tie everything together. Painting (Canvas) Size: 29-3/8" Wide x 39-3/8" High x 1" Deep. Medium: Oil, acrylic, marker, and gold leaf pen. Painting Framed Size: 30-3/4" Wide x 40-3/4" High x 2-1/8" Deep. Professionally built gold leaf floater frame with black between the gold and the painting (as shown in the photos).

Thien was born in Vietnam, Bien Hoa Dong Nai, northeast of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). His family came to the United States in 1992 when he was about 3 years old. Thien believes that growing up in a culturally diverse neighborhood helped him keep an open mind on how to live our daily lives as well as important factors/issues. He believes that has a big influence on how he creates his own artwork. Thien specializes in abstract landscapes, mostly involving mountainous terrain because of their natural abstract shapes.
