Hi, my name is Yakkov Seidman. I live and work in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was born in Bucharest, Romania, and graduated from Tel Aviv University. I discovered art later in life and began my art-making journey with life drawing, attending life-drawing classes. I studied art at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. My work explores many themes, ranging from the human form to still life and abstraction. I like exploring the literary works of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. My work concerns the human condition relating to love, alienation, and culture. The 20th-century German Expressionist artists like Georg Baselitz, Martin Kippenberger, and Max Beckmann influence me. Among the great Spanish artists, I admire the confidence in Pablo Picasso's works and love the works of the “New King” Miquel Barcelo. Paris is my favorite city, and my journeys across Africa and Congo have inspired many of my works. My artworks attracted (were selected by) art lovers from the USA, France, and South Africa. I always remember Edvard Munch's quote. “No longer shall I paint interiors with men reading and women knitting. I will paint living people who breath and feel and suffer and love”
