My passion for art began in my early youth and my life's endeavour is to create beautiful art. Expressive soulful portraiture is my principal avenue in that pursuit. It is the challenge of capturing a faithful likeness of my sitter combined with their emotions and spirit that I find most compelling. I strongly believe there is an innate l beauty in every human soul and that an artist’s duty is to bring this beauty to the surface. This is my main goal in making portraits. It is this depth of the person that intrigues me and pushes me to draw. I like my drawings to have an unfinished impressionistic feel about them. I usually portray my subjects in surroundings and situations that are relevant to their everyday lives and in the manner, that best captures their inherent gestures and movements. My role is to let people be themselves, and then be sensitive enough to capture those moments when they happen. I am dedicated as an artist to recognise and record those beautiful glimpses of life on a piece of paper. My motivation for drawing is to evoke a feeling, to create a connection with the sitter’s deep rooted emotions. Portraiture is the enduring art form by which I describe and celebrate the uniqueness of the individual and his soul. Born in Ukraine with Russian heritage , I am inspired by the works of Russian masters. Their ability to catch and capture the deepest emotion of the sitter combined with excellent draftsmanship always startled me . Beautiful forests and rivers of Ukraine drive me to create my pieces in oils . I always try to translate their energy , stamina and beauty onto a canvas
