The non-representational motif is made from the off-cuts of the imagination and offers a playful exercise in ground reversal interpretation. The linear and geometric marks are carved into a layer of tactile wax. The black marks on the pale cream-yellow background are graphic and weathered. The pattern design is textual and traditional. The substrate is 7/8" deep a birch panel that is ready to hang as-is or can be framed by the collector. Signed and dated on the back. The painting surface is finished in a layer of encaustic wax. Encaustic art involves fusing heated beeswax and damar resin on the surface of the substrate. The results are a soft, barely opaque, molten surface full of nuance and character that catches the light. ⁣Care for an encaustic painting as you would any fine art painting.
