Email: Rashad Mehdiyev was born in 1968 in the family of artists. After the graduation of school, he continued his education at the College of Art. Soviet period was hard for Rashad and for artists in general, continuous persecutions in art, “soviet realism” , didn’t give the chance to reveal. After the graduation of College of Art, he moved to Moscow, but the difference on point of views prevented him on further study there. Upon his return to Azerbaijan he entered the University of Art , but it coincide with the difficult period of the young republic - Soviet army entered the country and killed hundreds of civils. In 1991 he decided to continue the study at Istanbul University of Fine Arts. From that period he started the scientific researches, studies of astronomy, research on Persian and Azerbaijanian Culture that reflected on his artworks. On his account more than 20 solo exhibitions all around the world and participation on several international symposiums and festivals. “ …My inspiration comes from my intuition, from my dreams, from my perception of the world. I have my academicals knowledges received in University of Fine Arts of Azerbaijan and Turkey, but I always felt that some force guides me in the Art. I wake up at the night, I make the sketch, I return to the bed and the next day when I start to work on my idea I feel how this force is coming. More I work, more I discover the elements of the world that could be invisible for someone. In the young age I wrote a story on my feelings. Something quantum. Vision of one world superimposed on ours. But I can not express it better than through my paintings. I see it and it pushes me to paint. I want to share it with the people. Its energetic. It drives my paintbrush as I have a message to give. Its like I am the way to materialize this other world. In my paintings you discover the forms, the attitudes, the elements as I see them. Its like I feel they ask me to paint them, as a dream lived in reality. Most of my artworks describe my reality. It is another me, out of my body, my guide, making me discover the world of energy behind the material perception, other reality that I try to rationalize in the forms, color and lights…”
