Resistance Painting

It is a mixed media on canvas. In addition to oil, there are pieces of paper attached on the canvas. The painting shows a wall in Istanbul, the wall of an old building which is unfortunately now renewed The writings on the wall are slogans used in a major protest in the city which had taken place couple of years ago to save a park, where the government was trying to build a shopping mall. The work is a part of my Uncelebrated Celebrities series. Inspired from Andy Warhol's saying " in the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes", the stencils of my friends, who are ordinary people, were repeated at this series and thus enjoyed being famous as long as they were watched by the audience. The large stencil on the painting is one of those ordinary people. It has four pieces, each with a size of 110X90 cm's and all four pieces (not attached to each other) will be shipped in one box. The collector should hang them on the wall attaching them to each other( with no space in between) as shown in the original photo. If the collector wishes to hang them in a different way due to the space constraints and etc, should contact me beforehand.
