Close Up
This beautiful town in Mexico caught my attention straight away. The architectural scenes were quite impressing. The magnificent gardens and it's festive people.

This series of paintings I like to call, “Messed up Situations” is inspired on my latest trip trough Mexico. I have spent six months traveling the North and West side of Mexico and dedicated another six moths finishing this series in a beautiful town named “Comala” by the Colima Volcanos.

I choose the name for the series on my first impressions I had on the people and the cities and all that it involves (its commerce galore, sales of mostly anything and also the nice smiling people that I encounter trough the trip).

The glazed geometrical forms are a way to represent how the routine of an everyday life, blinds us from the magic, the colors and the incredible sometimes bizarre objects out there.

My aim to you is to see beauty, to see life, to experience Mexico in a painting.

Hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to contact me, if you have any queries whatsoever.

Thank you,

Ynes Guevara.

I am Latin-Kiwi full time artist, living in the South Island in Timaru - Te tihi o maru. I hail from Mexico and been in New Zealand - Aotearoa over ten years. I create art with a few main ideas in my mind, keep it simple and never boring. They help me complete the puzzle of creating. I am a disciplined artist that enjoys a day of solitude in my studio or reading a book or going to the beach. I have a 50 m2 art studio where I currently work full time. For a few years now, I have been diving into the incommensurable world of literature.
