Sisters Painting

My current work consists of black and white abstract images painted on canvas, with some works having instances of gray. My limited palette of black and white is representative of what I began to see in the larger landscape of life. It signifies division—in the literal sense—and in another way, speaks to certain life outcomes which are sometimes cut and dry, with little to no gray areas. My subject matter evolves from feelings of pain, separation and loss. It raises the question of how we might attain wholistic levels of restoration and completion from what tries to break us. In painting these images, I am exploring themes of healing; self exploration; identity; opposition; suffering, and allowing introspection to give way to total catharsis.
