"Sleeping Beauty" Mountain Painting

A huge mountain called "Sleeping Beauty", eternally covered with snow, resembling the figure of a lying girl, covering the city from all winds, is located on the right side of the Borgustan ridge of the Alpine Mountains. These places are also called the region of Shavlinsky lakes, after one of the most beautiful lake complexes in the Chuya Alps. The two nearest peaks, also covered with snow and eternal ice, are called Basme and Vis. This area is loved by climbers, ascents from 1 to 5 difficulty categories are possible here. The Mirror of Beauty pass is one of the most difficult in the Altai Mountains. The "Sleeping Beauty" peak, reflected in the ideal surface of the mountain lake, is the favorite model for photos of tourists who travel to these places. The three most significant areas of the Altai Mountains - the Altai and Katunsky reserves and the Ukok plateau - were included in the UNESCO list in 1998 under the name "Golden Mountains of Altai". Mount Belukha and Lake Teletskoye were also included in the list of protected geographical objects. In this area there are five belts: steppe, forest-steppe, mixed, subalpine and alpine. The territory of the golden mountains of Altai is home to rare species of animals - the snow leopard, the Siberian mountain goat and others.
