Soft stems #1 Painting

Inspired by the desert landscape at dusk this work soft stems #2 is framed in a natural Victorian ash frame. My painting on canvas is with acrylic paint created with translucent washes of paint in greys, pink and soft mauve and pale blue. The work is a response to the changes in colour that happen at dusk, between daylight and night. The spinifex and sand glows creating a magical scene that is further enhanced by the dark shadows of the rocks and undergrowth. For me the memory of this experience was captured in this series of paintings which work look great as a triptych or as individuals or pairs. In these soft works I aim to provide a pathway to the viewer's imagination with floating forms that may provide an escape from reality.
