ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A study of my Husband. I was inspired by the shadow cast by this chair. That was my starting point. Using a minimal amount of colours strengthens the body's gesture, in my opinion. The painting silently captures the bond that humans (can) sometimes have with objects.

My first rule in Art is there are no rules. My work often goes through a series of "viewing sessions." It needs to resonate with me on some level. I then decide whether it's complete or painted over/destroyed. I purposefully leave some things unfinished to retain a sense of play. I strive for what I call a" naive sensibility" putting chance into play. Also commonly known as "happy accidents." I am a minimalist and try to keep things personal and or intimate, therefore I often paint my husband, animals and nature. Lately I have become somewhat obsessed with Abstract Expressionism.
