Greg Dougal writes:Thought-provoking work from artist Adrienne Silva invites us to study what is happening in her work and what we can learn from it. Our heritage is a rich resource which , as we grow ourselves, we seem to understand and embrace-how it has informed us. Yet is is elusive and eroded by the passage of time and other factors beyond our control so we cannot delay our search for hidden meaning. Adrienne Silva is a painter who lives & works in Lisbon Portugal , fully emmersed in investigating the Universal. She does not differentiate between art-making and daily routine. Political Philosophy is her grounded foundation and not forgetting Picasso's opinion about the reason for painting - painting is not done to decorate apartments- It is an instrument of war. Makes us think . Andrew Lamprecht , Curator of Historical Paintings and Sculpture Iziko Museums South Africa writes about Adrienne Silva's work , About Face, An explosion of colour greets the viewer in the work , About Face by Adrienne Silva...(see Wordpress site) In her words: With colour and image I can attempt an impression of that which I would like to express. Every year I find a new spark or entry point in my practice. At the moment I work with my memory of art and combine that with an ideal, albeit, mediated, that somehow justice will prevail.
