About The Artwork

I swung open the doors of an exhibition space when a large moth landed directly in my path. I noticed its natural markings instantly and took a snapshot with my android storing it away as creative fodder. A little while and a series of digital manipulations gave rise to the image which i have reinterpreted using silk thread. Moths eat up garments so im suggesting that various garments have appeared on its body surface as large colour patches. Also the wings evoke colourful surfing boards which one can mount and catch a wave on. There is a sort of beach feel to the piece as well. I hope it speaks to the viewer on various levels.

I'm a design professional with a passion for creativity and innovation. My interests include Art, Graphic Design, Product Design and Fashion. The Subject matter of my Art focuses on or alludes to nature, its processes, forms and scenes. It also dwells on abstract representations of feminine forms children, maternal expressions and faces. The images are derived from everyday life, composites of visuals stored in my subconscious, interpretations. They include expressions from my background in architecture, interpretations of psychedelic patterns. I work for varied lengths of time, sometimes for extended periods, sometimes in staccato bursts of creativity. The art is painstakingly crafted using silk thread, adhesive glue and various applicators. Usually I begin a project with a general creative vision which soon yields itself to the fluid nature of the thread medium. Hence a finished work is unique and is not readily duplicated. There are different techniques used in handling the medium which give rise to a various results ranging from constrained geometric forms to fluid impressions. I hope that my artwork communicates with the audience on multi-layer way with hidden meanings and interpretations. The thread art is reminiscent of Oriental embroidery and craftwork as well as Ghanaian Yeb art.
