An escape from a cold reality, ‘The wonderings of a monkey’ embodies the childish reverence of unexplored, far-off places. The painting has an ambiguous narrative; one that can describe a variety of themes, each awoken by the viewer’s frame of mind. These, for example, could be tales of harmony and of companionship, or alternatively of something more ominous.
