To Parse Lips as if my Own Painting

This work represents a break from my usual style in many ways. It is generally rare for me to apply quite so much paint to a canvas. For this painting I focused on accomplishing a dynamic composition, sectioning off areas of the canvas and experimenting with relationships in form, colour and textural qualities of the paint. Utilising the properties of a combination of oil based house paint and regular oil paint for colour, I was able to achieve real variety in line character which has imbued the work with a liveliness throughout. Hidden in amongst the broad strokes are remnants of previous layers of paint, windows into the past, tiny details and suggestions of the human form. This painting rewards intrigue and operates on many levels. Top quality materials used throughout. Handmade canvas stretcher, constructed and stretched by myself. Will arrive complete with hanging fixtures and secure in professionally constructed made-to-measure crate.
