About The Artwork

I drew my inspiration from my personal connection to Unterägeri, having spent countless hours wandering through its stunning landscapes and swimming in its lake, absorbing the unique ambiance and natural beauty of this area. My emotional attachment to the place permeates every brushstroke, infusing the painting with an authentic sense of love and admiration. Through "Unterägeri in green," I hope I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the captivating charm of the Swiss landscape. I hope that it evokes a range of emotions, from tranquillity and serenity to a sense of wonder and nostalgia. My aim is to transport viewers to a place of respite and contemplation, allowing them to momentarily escape the demands of everyday life and find solace in the beauty of nature. All my canvas's are made in Unterägeri, Zug by a lovely lady.

I am a British-born expressionist artist, living and working in Switzerland since 2007. Like most of the British explorers that arrived in Switzerland before me, I also found the Swiss Alps capturing my imagination and fell under their majestic spell. My main influences are the landscapes of Ferdinand Hodler and German expressionist artists such as Kirchner and Beckmann. These along with the book written by Heinrich Harrer (The White  Spider) have influenced my creativity and inspired me to use my own unique style to represent the Swiss mountains and landscape.  My connection with Switzerland started before I was born.  In the mid-'50s, my Father came to Luzern, Switzerland for a holiday with his school.  He fell in love with Switzerland and the mountains.  Sadly my father died when I was 2 years old, so sadly never got to hear his adventures. But I grew up with a small wooden house, which he brought home as a gift to his parents. Toward the end of his life, my Father began to paint.  Now I find myself painting the mountains around Luzern and living in a village with is called wooden houses. I am home.....
