Ramona Russu is a Romanian painter who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and settled in Corsica in 2014 to pursue her creative journey. Her artistic work explores the complexity of women's emotions and experiences, and highlights the idea of imperfect beauty through monochrome pieces enhanced with 24-carat gold leaf. Inspired by the kintsugi technique, which honors the aesthetic and spiritual value of imperfection and the process of repair, Ramona explores the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which values the beauty of impermanence, imperfection, and incompleteness. In her paintings, the cracks, imperfections, and scars that life leaves on each of us are celebrated as part of our history and a source of strength and beauty. Her works are present in private collections around the world and exhibited by prestigious galleries in Romania, Spain, Italy, Argentina, and the United States, alongside artists such as Basquiat, Murakami, Andy Warhol, KAWS, Banksy, and other important and emerging names in contemporary art. Her growing international recognition was demonstrated by her selection to exhibit her paintings at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art and Design in Florence in 2021 and 2023, alongside artists such as Andrea Roggi, Oliviero Toscani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Vivienne Westwood. Ramona Russu is an expanding artist whose unique vision of women and beauty continues to fascinate and inspire an increasingly wider audience.
