About The Artwork
Close to heart this painting was inspired by my visit to Varanasi on the pious occasion of Dev Deepavali The Ganga Aarti of Varanasi is a shining beacon of devotion and bliss that makes us experience the grandeur and divinity of our rich cultural heritage. It is performed by a group of priests well clad in pristine dhoti, kurta and a well tied gamcha amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras, using layered brass lamps, flowers, incense sticks, conch shells and other ritual periphernalia. The entire ritual leaves an everlasting impact on its viewers and makes the environment sattvik(pure).
