Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Enamel on Other.

Fourth painting in the Staircase series.Stemming from my research into abandon spaces and why we are attracted to them. When I started this painting, all I know was that I was going to paint the stairs. The additions of characters and situations develop as I'm painting. I include what feels like it needs to be included without to much thought, painting from a subconscious mind. It's only when it's complete do I step back and piece together the narrative. .

This is a social commentary on modern living where
classical metaphors to tell the tale.

I see it as a battle between a blinkered non reality and the pursuit of true happiness.
The 2 headed rocking horse tagged Venenum, a metaphor for an exciting yet stunted non reality, this linking to works from another of my series "Better Than Life".
And the modern cupid, a symbol of what can make us feel truly alive, love. The remedy.
