This is a portrait of my son as we are maintaining communication via virtual video calls . I am trying to capture some expressions of the quarantine we are living through and lighting from screens . I always continue to paint my son to continue the process of painting in all its possibilities , such is the beauty of painting process. Measuring 35 cms x 45 cms oil on canvas . Stretched on wood. Unframed . I am an English painter but I live in Cali Colombia a few years ago with my son Lucas, we are both painters and we love what we do. We believe in the life of the artist and also in our ancestors ​​like, Van Gogh and Gauguin. We like to find the most expressive ways of painting and transmit this in the process. I am a painter who likes to capture the soul in faces and backgrounds of men and women who live in contemporary society. I like to paint about subjects like migration and escapism. I work a lot in painting with the process, experimenting with harmonies in colours, contrast, and I think that most of all I like to see the brushstrokes and what they express. Since I was a child I was always inspired by artists who can capture the essence of what it is to live today connecting with ancestry. What can a painting inspire us? The colors, the texture, the harmony, the message, the empathy, there are so many elements to consider in the process and transmit through the painting.
