LOCATION: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK, KENYA Plains Zebra and Wattled Starling (Life-size Subject) Poetic Narrative: Through a kaleidoscope of visual flare, Dazzling bodies flickering in the sweet African air. Uniquely marked stripes dancing like wild fingerprints, Parting to reveal the new little prince. With the herd together they look as one, A mirage of beings under the savannah sun. With a closer gaze, hidden in this cryptic maze, A gentle scene unfolds through the fleeting summer haze. Under guidance and under watchful eyes, He stands amongst his guardians in his natural disguise. With an innocence like glacial ice, pure and bright; He allures all, even the winged wanderers; Causing them to stop and perch, mid-flight. A gift of life, he is with every beat of his own, The heart of his wild herd, never alone. Mahdhav Sarna

As an Artist my work is not intended to be simply a portrait of an animal; instead my mission is to convey a glimpse, a momentary pause from the life of that being. My visual palette and poetic narratives draw inspiration from eastern wisdom of the Auras, which reflect our emotional energy and signify our vibrancy of life. This influence is utilised to highlight the unifying force or soul that resides equal in all beings, transcending the physical form. Some of the artwork includes original, emotionally charged poetry, which gives voice to this moment, to the soul portrayed in the piece. Through original poetry and richly visual artworks, I hope to explore the deeper connections that run spiritually, emotionally and experientially between all beings; with a goal to help motivate a new perspective of care, awareness and respect for our planet’s wildlife. Predominantly working with life-size subjects, I wish to not put an image of that animal on display, but rather, show that being to you in its full grandeur. Tackling challenges of conservation and eco-harmony, my art aims to portray the lives around us as a part of us; in the same way that we are all part of what Ancient Greek teachings term Gaia: the complex living being that is Mother Earth.
