Yellowstone Bison Painting

I have visited Yellowstone National Park many times. This is an imagined scene which combines many of those experiences into a single image. I have always enjoyed the geothermal features, wildlife, mountains, and even the park signs. This is an impression I had of the landscape in the park with the addition of intense color. The gridlines in the painting were part of my original plan to present multiple small scenes on a single sheet of paper. The small designs began to fit together and the foreground images began to grow and take over the composition. This is an original watercolor on paper. It is signed, titled, and dated on the bottom border and on the back.
