#573, 2022, series: 'architectures', part of SUBMV Suite Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

#573, untitled, 2021 is a piece from the series 'architectures', which the artists continually evolve since 2014. It is taken from the 'submv suite', a tribute to the newly built Germany based Deutsches Schloss- und Beschlägemuseum Velbert. And as a genuine O+K piece, it celebrates the thoughts and genes of the Bauhaus. And as you might be able to recognize, it is still going strong ;-) In 'architectures', photographic images of rooms or room details are masked with an artificial, black or colored curtain with wholes cutted out. The parts of the room that remain visible appear like independent, newly formulated architectural elements in front of it. Our perception 'twists' the curtain to the color of a non existing background. What looks like graphics from a distance turns out to be real photography when viewed up close, due to the recognizability of the surface structures. Each of O+K's pictures are generated from a photograph in one piece, never cut apart nor collaged. Walls, edges, corners, ceiling and so forth stay at the places, where they are found in the basic RAW file. #573 is supplied as a pigment print on high-matte museum cardboard of 300 g/sqm, self-printed by the artists. The shown mounting / framing is a suggestion to demonstrate, how the piece 'works' on the wall.
