Delicate constellation "Cardus Alpinae" Photograph

English: This is a photo scan where no camera, no negative, no digital intervention was used. In this case, the subject is beautiful thistle flower seeds and the equipment a scanner, linen cloth, and a laptop computer. The scanner's point source of light, like the sun, reveals every detail that is on the glass but any details not flat on the glass are thrown into soft focus, much like the results attained with a view camera to control depth of field. This is one in a series of plants, fruits, and vegetables that I call "humble" and are the vegetation of every day. This alpine plant is a native from the slopes of the magnificent Mt. Ventoux in Provence, aptly named for the powerful 90 km wind that wraps it 240 days a year.
