Alessandro Zanazzo was born in 1957 in Rome . After studying Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Fine Art in Rome, Italy, he attended a fellowship Painting Course, at Voss School of Art, Voss, Norway and he moved to Norway, where he studied Photography and Multimedia Arts at KunstAkademy Fine Art Academy in Bergen, Norway. In Norway he started his experimenting and researches in Fine Art Photography at the KunstAkademie, exhibiting at the Museum Bryggen (Bergen) his multi-image presentation "Fragmenter av tanke"(“Fragments of thoughts”) , a multi media audio visual combining images, poems with avant-garde electronic sounds and music. In 1985 he left Norway to return to Italy to continue his Visual Studies in the Professional Institute of Movies and Photography in Rome. His first solo exhibition in Rome, in 1982, “To the wind, to the fire, to the rain” was presented by the Italian Historian of Art Giulio Carlo Argan (1909-1992). In his artistic life he has been working at several art projects concerning the interaction between different artistic languages : Photography, Video, Installations, Performances, Music, Dance, cooperating with Musicians ( the Maestro Composer Domenico Guaccero (1927-1984) and the Electronic Musician Angelina Yershova), co-working with Coreographers for Modern and Contemporary Dance Companies (Coreographers : E. Gonzales Correa and Laura Martorana “Terza stanza company”) creating costumes and scenic design , using projections of his slides-photographs as part of the stage design. He lived in Paris (France) from 1992 to 1996 . In France he exhibited at the French Biennial of Photography “Le Mois de la Photo à Paris” in 1996, “Paris- Rome Miroirs de l’Ailleurs”cultural exchange. At “Le Mois de la Photo” he presented his audio visual production on the 99 Masks of the Renaissance Villa d Este and an installation of “ projected slides of shadows and wind blow” at La Maison du Geste et de l’Image. In 1997 and 1998 he was Art Critic/Journalist for “RomArte” Magazine . He has exhibited in several Countries (France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy) where he showed his artworks , combining Photography with Mixed Media techniques, using both natural elements and recycling industrial material, in several private Art Galleries , Cultural Institutions and Museum.
