One late evening, walking through the medieval center of Toulouse, I saw the courtyard of a youth hotel under very unusual lighting, which gave a completely unusual sound to completely ordinary objects. Franco-Russian, I live with my wife, teenage daughter, and our black pug in the South of France in Toulouse. I've always loved art. When I was young I took painting classes. In college, I bought my first DSLR and got into photography. Spending the last thirty years of my career in advertising I even shot pictures for some of my clients' campaigns. I won Cannes Lion’s, France, and Golden Drum in Portorož, Slovenia, and few other prizes. One of my clients was the famous photographer Peter Lindberg, to whom I assisted with his exhibition in Moscow Fine Arts Museum in 2002. Yet in all those years in the back of my mind, I dreamed of making a picture, a piece of art, worth hanging on the wall. But I never really got around to it and kept buying art books by numbers instead. During the 2020 pandemic, when walking the empty streets of the medieval city, I started experimenting first with my iPhone and then with the mirrorless camera. All of a sudden at some point, my pictures started to speak to me. And that to the extend that I made a big print of one of them and put it on the wall. My old dream eventually came true. I showed the images to a friend of mine who is a big art lover and collector. He asked for permission to print a couple of them for his newly bought apartment and convinced me to show them more widely hinting at Saatchi as the easiest way to do that. And here I am.
