I spent my early childhood in Zambia, moved to Kent in the 1960s, and went on to obtain a Honours degree in Fine Art and Education from Cambridge University. Having decided to become a graphic designer rather than teach, I continued with my education, and qualified with a Datec Diploma from East Ham College in London. I worked as a designer at the BBC in London, and later freelanced and illustrated for many womens magazines and other periodicals. A move out of London to the Midlands put my career on hold while I brought up my two sons, and freelanced as a Garden Designer. I have recently completed an HND in sculpture at Stafford College.

I use mixed media in the form of clay, wool, silk, leather, paper, plaster and paint finishes. I apply different textures to the clay which is rolled almost paper thin and further impressed
with a variety of found materials, such as fabrics, buttons and leaves. Because each piece is so delicate, accidental breakages occur and add to the character of the finished work. Each piece gains in quality and strength through every drying and firing process, and this gives them their slightly fragmented individuality. Once fired, additions are made to the work using mostly natural fibres which add an aged and slightly decayed appearance.
