ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A collage of images taken in Lisbon, Portugal and Mozambique. Combined with hand drawn. The image is transferred to a photopolymer printing plate and printed by hand using rich sepia etching ink on a manual etching press in the intaglio manner. The quality of Charbonnell etching ink on thick German paper gives beautiful, archival tones. The intaglio technique is unchanged since the time of Rembrandt. (the given size is that of the image - there will be an extra 8cm approx border on paper)

Johnny studied fine art at Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork, Ireland and Aki Academy of Art & Design, Netherlands. He received a Masters in Fine Art Printmaking at Camberwell College of Art London. He has travelled widely and draws from a vast source of imagery and ephemera. He makes work in a variety of different media. His work is in a number of important collections including that of the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin.
