The Art Work of Karin Van Bodegom consists of paintings, collages, video art and installations. The Collages are made from paper, magazine paper and (own) photographs. This “photomontage” is the process (and result) of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture was sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print. All hand made and cut without the use of a computer. The basic theme is Urbanization with City Shapes, Urban Landscapes and Urban Illusions as sub-themes. The latest collages are about Abstract Illusions and Illusions of Space. The Organic Abstract Paintings display the cohesion of rhythm, replication and unity through a natural movement of the hand across the chosen medium. It’s much more about structure, texture, stratification, harmony and the physical act than it is a realistic representation. The strokes are created by the instinctive motions of the hand. The Geometric Abstracts are based on the use of geometric forms sometimes, though not always, placed in non-illusionistic space and combined into non-objective (non-representational) compositions. The dots or points (based on Pointillism and Minimal Art) in several works are the results of non-objective elements in art as composition, color, line, dots and surface. Karin is also curator of several exhibitions and artist groups: the “Urban Landscapes” exhibitions, the Visual Abstract group, Artists’ Association The Boterhal Hoorn, the “Women in Art” group and the “Be my Guest” exhibitions. Karin is also the host and presenter of a radio show called “Kunst Compleet” (“Art Complete”) at RTV80.
