My work explores the space where digital and traditional image making merge. This print draws the viewer's attention to a fleeting moment of beauty, observed at a glance: An overlooked corner of a London Underground station platform presented an almost abstract expressionist composition. The platform had been repainted, thus obscuring all but the word 'Mind' from the famous warning slogan, 'Mind the gap'. The grabbed smart phone image was painstakingly converted to four colour separations and screen printed by the artist at London Print Studios in August 2017.

I turned to full-time printmaking in 2016 after 25+ years in commercial branding and communication consultancy. It was time for me to stop crafting other people's images and start making my own. My work covers a diverse range of subjects, styles and techniques, but is linked by a single thread: how we look at the world. I work from my own, original photography and drawing, digitally manipulating images and hand-printing them to share the way I see things, be that beautiful, contradictory, sublime or ironic. The slow, painstaking process of preparing and printing images helps me to slow down instantaneous digital image-making and hopes to slow down the way in which others look at the world; to stop and take a second look, and to enjoy those moments that would be lost otherwise.
