ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I must start my connection with the sculpture from my childhood. I grew up in a mountain village where the climate was harsh and opportunities were limited. I was making my own toys in an environment where technological materials and industrial toys were not available. I used to make toys out of clay, mud, pieces of wood, waste wire, stones. I met electricity and television at the age of eleven. was making sculptures to emulate cartoon and comic book heroes such as Conan and Red Kit. I have continued to work with different materials since the years I studied sculpture at an academic level. I worked with many materials such as clay, metal, stone, wood. I bought molds from materials such as polyester, plaster, bronze, concrete, aluminum. Every material that I worked with taught me what tools and equipment I would use. Another thing as important as the skill, idea, discipline and creativity required for sculpting is to have material knowledge. Knowing where and what equipment to use. I usually work with abstract forms, sometimes I make works that are deformed and push the limits of the figure, which I can call surrealist. Form and texture are very important to me in sculpture. I don't give separate names to my sculptures because I do not want to direct the imagination of the person who looks at my sculptures. I want everyone to see what they want in my sculptures. I want people to let their imaginations run free and look at my sculptures. I also care about the natural structure of the material I use in my works. For example, in my sculptures made of olive wood, I intervened in some places while preserving the unique form and texture of the tree. My aim was to show the natural structure of the olive tree and the parts I worked with in harmony on the same trunk. I believe the olive tree is sacred and I love it very much. I use natural wood preservative liquids to protect my tree sculptures. I don't varnish my tree sculptures. I use natural wood protection oils.
