Headloader Sculpture

This Site Specific installation shows the intricacy of my inner feeling with respect to my identity. By assembling rolled up newspaper unit components, the finished structure shows a chaotic yet fragile construct, seemingly delicate with the tendency to fall apart. The use of Chinese newspaper spells my Chinese heritage. By now, I have been living in the West longer than in the East by a wide margin. I feel that my original identity is receding out of control. I am struggling with the different aspects of two cultures - feeling that I am alienating my Chinese roots while continuing to integrate into the Western society. My Chinese-ness is diminishing by the day.
