Knut Pani

Knut Pani was born in Mexico City in 1956. In 1983 he received his B.F.A. in painting and illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. From 1983 to 1990 lived in Mexico City, where he worked on his paintings, etchings, sculptures and teaching. Pani's artistic expression, with its characteristic abstraction, became even more synthetic when he moved to the countryside where he designed and built his house and studio. In 1993 he founded "El Pez Soluble" Press in Tequisquiapan, Mexico, which offers residencies for artists from all over the world in the etching and print techniques. Knut Pani has painted five murals in Mexico. His work can be found among more than 200 public and private collections worldwide.

1975 Attends Lothar Kestenbaum's sculpture workshop at The National School of Fine Arts in San Miguel de Allende, Gto. Mexico.1976-79 Works as Editor of the "Arquitectura/Mexico" magazine. Together with Dr. Mathias Goeritz is in charge of its "Sección de Arte". 1979-83 Attends Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, Ca., where he obtains his B.F.A. in Painting and Illustration. 1983 Founds "Trazo", an experimental atelier in Mexico City.1985 Works as Art Director at Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City.1985-88 Professor of the " Graphic Expression" and "Media Experimentation" workshops at Anahuac University, Mexico City.1987 Forms an experimental press with fellow artists Alejandro Arango and Franco Manterola.1993 Opens "El Pez Soluble" Press and "El Pez Soluble Arte Mural" in Tequisquiapan, Qro.1996-2009 Continues teaching Introduction to Drawing and Composition and Drawing at "El Pez Soluble", Tequisquiapan, Qro.
