Mieke Van Os

Mieke van Os (Maria Clara van Os) is a multidisciplinary artist. She has a fine palet of colors in her paintings.

She is looking for an unconventional but traditional shape with a twist. She pays homage to past eras and art styles, but her twist is vibrant and of the moment. Artworks that put a modern touch on traditional motifs, from landscapes to abstracts. She has an eye for the separation of surface and color. With her specific use of colors she wants to express something intangible, an atmosphere, a feeling of happiness or contemplation.

Her sources of inspiration are very variable and versatile. Whether a work was made 500 years ago or now, she borrows elements from it to do something with it. Ideas also come from the production itself. The work often has a kind of rules and chaos at the same time. At first glance, her work is very diverse. On closer inspection, there is definitely a connecting line.

Her motto is: “The horizon is infinite, it only knows a limit in ones head.

Mieke van Os has followed several professional art courses: Academy of The Arts Tilburg to become an art teacher and the others to work autonomously as an artist. In the Netherlands (Bachelor Fine Arts and Design in Education, EQF6, 2010 - 2014) and in Belgium (Sculpture, EQF5, 2017- 2021), the specialization degree Sculpture and she is now also connected to the Project Atelier in mix media and is taking part in the Higher Degree Level in Painting.
