“I create from within a disturbed place of need, healing, and exploration. I hope my art inspires you to look deeply within yourself.”
My name is Nadia Aldea and I am a mixed media artist. I create from within a disturbed place of acceptance, healing, and exploration. Capturing the complicated dance of pain and beauty. My subject matter is the female form. My work is abundantly full of hidden details, as there are so many colourful layers. Almost all of my work entails body parts such as eyes, mouth, and obstructed complicated faces. The faces are often purposefully disfigured, forcing the eye to accept the subject for what it is, as it is, and to dig deeper to try to understand it. I create with a variety of mediums. Such as acrylic paints, chalk, charcoal, pastels, collage, sewing, and yarn. Onto canvas, polyester film, wood panels, or linen. My intention in my art is to demand a moment of stillness and deep observation. A challenge of the ordinary and an acceptance of a different kind of beauty.
