Alexander Semenov

I'm a professional underwater photographer with nine years of experience. My key specialism is scientific macro-photography in natural environment.
I'm a marine biologist specialising in invertebrate animals. Currently I'm the head of the divers team at the White Sea Biological Station which is situated at the Arctic polar circle.

I'm also the head of Aquatilis Expedition project - an epic underwater journey through the unknown, set to explore the world's most extraordinary creatures.

I want to show that science is not only about lab coats and lectures. When science meets art the Wonder is born.

Graduated from the Biology department at Lomonosov Moscow State University. Specialised in the study of invertebrate animals with an emphasis on squid brains.

Won a bunch of international and local wildlife and scientific photo contests. My shots appeared in Nature magazine as "Best photo of the year". I have a pretty hefty list of publications, awards, workshops, exhibitions, and lectures which is boring to read.
