My sculptures take a light hearted view of the world, they explore our enjoyment of life and how in our image conscious world we wear sunglasses, go bare footed, teeter on impossible heels, and carry expensive handbags all for others to take note of.
Influences Rodin - described sculpture as drawing in space,
Giaccometti - exploration the human condition
Egyptian and Etruscan Art - Simplicity of line and for their vivid representation of the subject matter's social economic status.
Picasso for his light inventive energy.
Early figurative sculptures were made in the life room
Life drawing important for its rigour
Interest in movement and balance
Humour light hearted
Narrative - each piece tells a story
Commissions - enjoy the dialogue and exploration of diverse subject matter
Experiences filter through to work eventually
