Matter, Trace, and Temporality

Born in 1960 in Toulon, France, Bruno Georges David has, since the late 2000s, developed a body of work centered on the materiality of time, expressed through painting, volume, and installation. Living and working in Sofia, Bulgaria, the artist explores the surface as a site of inscription, where traces of gesture, alteration, and passage accumulate.

His practice is characterized by a direct engagement with matter, understood not as a support for representation but as a field of experimentation and resistance. The works do not rely on narrative or nostalgic memory; instead, they register time as a physical presence through processes of layering, erasure, deposition, and fragmentation.
