Carlo Moschella

Carlo Moschella is an Italian-Austrian sculptor based in Baumkirchen, Austria, with his atelier in Innsbruck, Tyrol.
His artistic research explores memory, the sea, material transformation and the idea of the recovered fragment. His works are not conceived as constructed objects, but as presences discovered within matter — where wood, stone, metal, resin, pigments, patinas and reclaimed elements seem to preserve traces of another time.
For many years, Moschella has developed a personal language centered on contemporary totemic and archaeological sculpture. His figures, reliefs and sculptural fragments appear archaic yet contemporary, suspended between memory and invention.
Years spent among harbours, shipyards and the sea have deeply shaped his relationship with materials. Weathering, erosion, corrosion and transformation are not simply surface effects, but part of the identity of the work itself.
Each sculpture changes with light and angle, revealing new faces and presences, as if alive. The material breathes, transmitting a force that goes beyond the photographic image.
Moschella does not follow a category — his work defines its own territory between sculpture, archaeology, ritual presence and contemporary space.
