About the Artist

Kirill Simakov

United States

Kir Simakov is a New York-based multidisciplinary photographer working across portrait, architectural and fine art photography. Throughout his career, he has been equally drawn to people and places, believing that both shape our cultural memory.

His work has been exhibited internationally in the United States, Italy and Russia. In 2026, Simakov presented his solo exhibition On the Other Side at Leonovich Gallery in New York. The project is a portrait series revealing the human side of those who shape contemporary culture. In 2023, he held several solo exhibitions in Italy as part of the Year of Italian Culture, including Horizons of Peace at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Bergamo, becoming the first photographer to exhibit there alongside the works of Renaissance master Lorenzo Lotto.

Documentation of Horizons of Peace is preserved in the personal archive of Pope Francis at the Vatican in recognition of the project’s artistic and cultural significance. Two works from his Nine series are held in the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts, where Simakov serves as a Corresponding Member.

His photographs have been recognized internationally, including the Architecture MasterPrize, the Artexpo New York Digital Photo Contest, finalist recognition at the Global Fine Art Photography Competition, and official selections for the International Photography Awards. In 2026, his work was also selected for Photoville, New York’s leading photography festival.

A graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, Simakov has photographed leading figures from the worlds of art, architecture, design and cinema, including Al Pacino, Woody Allen, Ralph Fiennes, Giorgio Armani, Elie Wiesel, Albert Watson, Harry Benson and Bruce Weber.
