I am a sculptural designer and maker based in Toronto, Canada. My artistic foundation was laid early on in secondary school fabrication shops, but it was my subsequent career as a Civil Engineer that truly defined my methodology. Drawing from my background in structural design and construction management, my practice explores the intersection of algorithmic precision and organic warmth. My creation process is a direct merge of technology and traditional craftsmanship. It begins with basic hand sketches that are translated into digital designs, followed by machine carving to establish the rough geometry within a solid slab of hardwood. From there, I dedicate countless hours to traditional hand carving and sanding. This hybrid approach allows me to execute a highly precise model that perfectly matches the conceptual design, while delivering the flawless, tactile finish that can only be achieved by hand. I have a profound respect for wood as my chosen artistic medium. When you consider the billions of planets scattered across the universe, wood is arguably the rarest material out there—so far, our planet is the only one that carries it. I choose this extraordinary substance as my medium to highlight its natural growth patterns and sweeping grain, showcasing the profound beauty of Earth's most unique material.
