Liesbeth Romeijn – Textile artist

I make fairytale paintings of felt, thread, wool and fabric. I felt, quilt, sew, crochet, weav and knit. Sometimes a work is made with 1 technique, but usually combined with multiple techniques.
From a young age I have been interested in textiles. My mother's sewing machine was always on the dining table, so I grew up with pieces of fabric and yarn in the living room. Early on I made clothes and learned to knit and crochet.
I learned felting in Antwerp at a workshop where I had ended up more or less by accident. Nevertheless, it immediately had my interest and I soon combined felting with fabrics and other techniques. I followed courses at Modinette for a long time. And even now I regularly follow short workshops and longer courses at multiple organizations and artists to gain inspiration and to keep up with my field.
Combining and bringing together is my passion. Not only with materials and techniques, but also with other artists. I am inspired by their methods, techniques and insights.
My studio is in the Kunstkamer in Scherpenisse. where I regularly give workshops.
