Martin Lavertu

My photographic practice is rooted in a reflection on time and its effects on the materiality of constructed spaces. Decay appears as a process of erasure that reveals the fragility of forms, where texture becomes a sensitive language. Each image stands as a visual document, bearing witness to transformation and disappearance, and thus reveals the tension between persistence and vanishing.

Born in Québec, Canada, Martin studied photography and media arts and holds a Master's in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He has exhibited across Québec and Canada, presenting work exploring sound, visual perception and materiality. Besides his artistic practice, Martin teaches visual arts at college and university levels and contributes to research projects in art.
