Oleg Pospelov (b. 1975) is a Spain-based conceptual artist whose work explores the intersection of historical memory, semantic decay, and the unyielding human instinct for creation.
After a 25-year career in graphic and font design — most notably as the creator of the acclaimed Oranienbaum typeface — Pospelov made a definitive transition to fine art in early 2023. Since this shift, he has maintained a prolific pace, producing over 1,500 works. Based in Tenerife since 2014, his practice is a visceral reaction to the ephemeral nature of the digital age. He acts as an "archaeologist of the present," working with vintage artifacts: mid-century newspapers, typing manuals, and needlework journals.
Pospelov’s major cycles, such as Consequences, Zebra, and Labores del Hogar, investigate a central question: What remains when the context is gone? Through a signature layering technique, he overlays expressive abstraction onto historical media, proving that beauty is a constant — a resource as vital as air or water.
His work is characterized by a unique "designer’s precision" met with an "artist’s intuition," creating a profound dialogue between the structured past and the chaotic, yet hopeful, present.
