Moreton’s practice moves between painting, photography, drawing, collage, ceramics and spatial experimentation. These are not separate bodies of work so much as different material conditions through which an ongoing spatial inquiry becomes perceptible.

Images, surfaces, fragments, architectural situations and clay bodies gather impressions of encounters: bodies touching environments, materials responding to forces, spaces becoming atmospheres, forms emerging and withdrawing.

Making is understood less as the execution of an idea than as an attentive ecology of becoming. A photograph may hold an encounter that later reappears in clay; a drawing may become a spatial proposition; a painting may register an atmosphere that returns through ceramic surface; a ceramic body may withdraw an earlier spatial proposition while keeping it available for another encounter.

What matters is not what the individual work finally represents, but what it makes possible.

Each work is therefore a persistent body of correspondence — gathering without containing, surfacing without exhausting, persisting without becoming closed.

The works can be encountered individually, but they also form part of a larger ecology in which sensations, materials, images,...
