I am fascinated by the structures and colours in plants. This painting is a study of a tulip, bluebells and ferns. It is partly a tribute to the Dutch flower painters of the 17th and 18th century whom I admire greatly and is why I chose a traditional oval shaped canvas

I am predominantly interested in the natural world and the structures and connections that are inherent within from a microscopic to a massive level. There is a lot of bright colour in my work and my main aim is to create a harmonious balance between the many colours and forms within the composition. Through my work I hope to inspire the awe that I feel about nature and its interconnectedness in others. I use a variety of 2D media and my style is semi-abstract or realistic and there is often a symbolic element involved.
