In 1998 I won the Sussex Open American Express Art Prize at Brighton museum . In the words of the judges , I was the " least derivative entrant " . I would say I am a type of abstract surrealist , but that is only my interpretation . I am interested in the things mankind has created , which wrestle with world of nature , from where they come . This idea is symbolised in my work ; I believe a lot of the inspirations are in my subconscious , and my imagination . My work may show different worlds , or worlds yet to be discovered , or even worlds within worlds . Only in recent human history has mankind seen the building blocks of life under the microscope . However , viewers may freely have their own interpretations of my work . All they need is imagination .
